Snowed in

This week has brought chaos and blizzards and lost chicks and challenges. This week has also brought tender moments and changes of pace and learning and sucesses. Woke up monday to a week of midterms at school and snow covering everything. Now the midterms are done and the snow remains, but I woke this morning to find a bunch of chicks hadn't made it through the stormy night. After some lamp and box adjustments the remaining peepers seem to be doing well, but it always hurts to lose.

In spite of the trials this week has presented, it has been refreshing to see everything covered in snow. I feel optimistic for the soil health beneath the powder on the garden beds I've worked so far, and there are so many pepper seedlings I don't really even know what to do with them! We've taken time to just play, we built some snowmen and thrown some snowballs through it all.

The most exciting part for me this week has been introducing the real life practice of animal care to the kiddo. He's always loved animals, and has his family's gentle soul with each of them. Watching him habdle them with such care is a proud moment for me, and watching them watch him back makes me giggle each time too.
